The new federal lead safety rules that take effect this spring are coming just as work gears up on federal stimulus projects that may be affected by the new regulations.
Much of the weatherization work involves replacement of doors and windows and putting in new wall insulation, which may require workers to disturb lead-based paint. And many will take place in pre-1978 homes, which means they fall under the purview of the new EPA rules.
