I am continually amazed by what I find under the secret “agent’s” section of the MLS called the “private remarks.” What, you didn’t know that there was a secret “agent’s” section of the MLS? Well, there is, and it is a repository for all kinds of information that, for whatever reason, the listing agent thought the buyer’s agent should know about the property but did not want to reveal to the general public.

One Response to “Are MLS Private Remarks Unethical?”

  1. Eric Orsbon says:

I don’t see how that would be unethical? It could be important info that doesn’t relate to the home or home value at all, like instructions for showings, like informing the buyers agent preferred showing times, letting them know the home is vacant and could be shown any time, a direct cell phone number to call for directions, etc. I can think of many things that would make sense to communicate to a buyers agent and not the general public.

Of course particular agents could write something discriminatory or unethical, but that doesn’t make the entire section unethical.
